Here at I am looking at Reframing from every possible angle. First, a literal reframing, I am repurposing old frames, mats and glass from thrift stores and free piles to showcase my photography. Second, is a cognitive reframing, a process by which I use positive mantras and affirming repetitive statements to reframe negative intrusive thoughts that have haunted me as long as I can remember. Using photography as my art therapy medium I try to take my tough emotions and try to find ways to express them visually. My favorite subjects come from growing anxieties surrounding climate change, equality, houselessness, and loneliness that led me to dumpsterscapes, street art, porches and tiny mushrooms. Using influences from hygge and wabi-sabi philosophies in the same style of photography I use in my portraiture work I hope to influence others to reframe as well.
